Benzoin oil is extracted from the Benzoin tree through its resin. It is aromatic, resinous, and golden in color and thick oil. It has the scientific name Styrax Benzoin. The main components of Benzoin oil are Benzoic acid, Coniferyl Benzoate, Vanillin, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzaldehyde and Cinnamic Acid. It has got various healing values. It has a sweet and pleasant fragrance. The crude balsamic resin exudate is obtained by cutting the bark of the tree which is called tapping.

The benzoin resin is antifungal, anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and a mild expectorant.

It regenerates the skin and is an excellent healing agent.

At the psychic level, it is relaxing, reassuring and anxiolytic. Internally, benzoin can be used against coughing.

Its skin properties allow it to be used on broken skin, and against acne and fungal infections.

Its vanilla fragrance can also be used as a base note for creating a perfume.
